Coach Brendan’s training programs are designed to help you run your best marathon ever by developing good form to complete your race safely and efficiently.

Coach Brendan’s 20-week training program will prepare you for any fall marathon. Hundreds of Coach Brendan’s runners have raced in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Marine Corps Marathon, ING New York City, and others.

Coach Brendan’s programs are created for runners of all personalities and experience levels. Whether you enjoy running in groups, individually or virtually, Coach Brendan has a program that will suit your style and fitness level.

All group training is held on Chicago’s beautiful Lakefront running path. Base-building, sharpening and tapering workouts are built into all schedules. Coach is always available to answer your training questions at group training runs and via email.

Training for fall marathons begins on Memorial Day weekend.  Long group runs are held on Saturdays. The first group run is June 1, 2013. This 20-week training program will prepare you for your fall marathon. To register, click here.

Coach Brendan’s Marathon Training Programs

Run/Walk Marathon Training
If you’re new to running, or are returning to the sport after an injury or hiatus, consider a run/walk marathon training routine. Coach Brendan has written schedules for:

  • Basic run/walk;
  • Intermediate run/walk;
  • Advance run/walk.

Group Training Runs are held on Saturday mornings. Group runs start and finish at Running Away Multisport, 2219 N. Clybourn (a short distance from the Lakefront running path). Secure, dry and warm place for storing gear during training. Restrooms available before and after group runs.

Runners in group training receive:

  • Detailed 20-week training schedule (Daily workout schedule)
  • Guidance on good running form
  • Weekly training tips
  • Email access to coaches during season
  • Technical running shirt

Continuous Running Training

Runners who prefer to run continuously during training and races can choose the following, based on level of experience:

  • Basic continuous running;
  • Intermediate continuous running;
  • Advance continuous running.

Speed Training
If ya wanna run fast, ya gotta run fast!

Many runners have used Coach Brendan’s Speed Training Program on their way to a Boston Marathon Qualifier!  Others have set a personal best time after participating in his Speed Training Program.

It is recommended that speed runners have a base of 25 miles a week for the last 3 months and have run a race of at least a half marathon distance in the last 4 months.

This 18-Week program runs from June 11 – October 8. It will prepare you to run faster in your half and full marathon races this summer and fall. Runners meet Tuesdays 6:30 pm at various locations along Chicago’s lakefront.

Virtual & Individual Training
Virtual training is a great option for those who can’t attend group runs.

No refunds or adjustments after the first training session for any reason, including injury. No proration of fees for any registrants after the first training session.

Speed Training
